Debut author Skye Rowan wants to say hello…

Hi Everyone and welcome to my blog! I am extremely excited to be writing to you for the first time as an official Bold Strokes Books author. It sounds great doesn’t it?

I am the writer of what I hope is the highly anticipated novel ‘Craving Cassie.’ My first book is a novel which explores the lives of two women in very different situations. Siobhan is the victim of a loveless marriage, her two children the only thing that keeps her going, until of course she meets Cassie, the office Lothario. Cassie only has two things on her unacceptable list: relationships and children. It’s only natural that when their worlds collide, things take many unexpected twists and turns and both women are forced to face what truly matters to them. It’s released on the 14th December and I can’t wait to hear what people think!

I chose to set this story in London, full of the hustle and bustle of life in the big city, but personally my heart lies with the ocean. This is reflected in my book, with many key scenes taking place by the ocean, including the magic of the ancient lighthouse, which soon becomes their special place.

The inspiration for this book actually came when I was seventeen years old. Considering I’m now thirty-eight, it has been a long time coming! Looking back, I guess it comes from my teenage love of any woman who was unobtainable. I now put this down to the fact they were somehow safe to develop feelings for. Teenage angst! Oh to be back there now! But I guess the feelings you have growing up and discovering your sexuality stay with you forever. I felt there was a definite story to be told!

So, a little more about me? I live in a small village in the UK, where I spend most of my time chasing after three Romanian rescue dogs: Tatty, Ziggy and Kylo. I feel incredibly passionate about rescuing dogs and something I would like to become more involved in. The future dream is one large farmhouse, hundreds of rescue dogs and a whole load of room to play!

I’m a massive football fan, Leeds United for my sins, and have travelled around Europe to watch them play. When I’m not at Elland Road cheering them on, I love to travel to London to see a West End musical. Showtunes should be compulsory in everyday life! Particular favourites include Wicked (who doesn’t love the Wicked Witch of the West) and Rent, though if I were forced to pick a favourite musical film – Moulin Rouge all the way!

I have loved writing all my life, I studied English Literature at Uni and when I’m not living my other life as an author, I’m actually Deputy Head of a Primary School. It’s a fantastic job, no two days are ever the same and you’re always kept on your toes. They say never work with children or animals, but they are lying!

I enjoy spending time with my amazing partner Nic. She has the patience of a saint to listen to my crazy ideas for books in the middle of the night, whilst also suffering my need to burst into song, usually accompanied with a full-on dance routine in the middle of an otherwise uneventful day. We love to travel together and enjoy many wild and wacky day trips out with her kids, my dogs and of course a crazy dance number.
